2013 new boat showcase

Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 509

The flagship of Jeanneau‘s impressive Sun Odyssey collection, the 509 features a high-aspect sail plan and a low, understated profile, a combination that makes for a visually arresting oceangoing vehicle. The hard chine promotes a roomy interior, and numerous layouts are offered, including double cabins forward. The Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 509 is part of Cruising World‘s 2013 New Boat Showcase.

C&C 101

Built in Fairport Harbor, Ohio, the C and C 101 is a true dual-purpose racer/cruiser with high-performance potential and simple, comfortable amenities for coastal cruising.

Morris Ocean 48 GT

“Grande Touring” is what the “GT” stands for in this new offering from the Maine builder, and it’s a fitting description. The pretty sloop features a clever, expansive interior layout; a tall rig with self-tacking jib and furling main; and, of course, the detailed, high-quality craftsmanship for which the company is known. The Morris Ocean 48 GT is part of Cruising World‘s 2013 New Boat Showcase.

Moorings 5800

The latest addition to The Moorings fleet, built in South Africa by Robertson and Caine, was designed for the crewed-charter market and for luxurious worldwide cruising by private owners. For chartering, the innovative five-cabin layout includes a pair of bridgedeck staterooms. The Moorings 5800 is part of Cruising World’s 2013 New Boat Showcase.

Annapolis 2012

The 2012 U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis, Maryland, featured loads of new boats and gear. Not at the show? Scroll through the photo gallery to see what you missed.

Malö 47

Established in Orust, Sweden, in 1939, Malö Yachts has been building rugged, dependable bluewater cruising boats ever since. Its new 47, with a double-spreader rig, comes with a 10-year warranty on its balsa-cored hull and is further distinguished by the grooved teak on its deck, superstructure, and cockpit. The Malö 47 is part of Cruising World‘s 2013 New Boat Showcase.

Maverick 400

Yet another cool cat with a South African pedigree is the Maverick 400, appropriately nicknamed the “Space Craft.” Indeed, spacious accoutrements above deck and below are signature elements in this rangy 40-footer. The enormous owners stateroom, which runs the length of the starboard hull, is especially noteworthy. The Maverick 400 is a part of Cruising World‘s 2013 New Boat Showcase.

Moody AC 41

Though now built in Germany by Hanse Yachts, the Moody brand’s British heritage has been retained by longtime designer Bill Dixon, the creator of the new 41. With classic lines and contemporary features like dual headsails, twin wheels, and a walk-through transom, the old and the new are equally represented. The Moody AC 41 is part of Cruising World‘s 2013 New Boat Showcase.

Nautitech 441

With a single helm station at deck level to port, the Nautitech 441 is ideally set up for solo operation. (Its sister ship, the 442, has two helms aft and outboard.) A cat with real offshore capability, it also offers the option of a dedicated owners stateroom in the starboard hull, which includes a fine work space/office. The Nautitech 441 is part of Cruising World‘s 2013 New Boat Showcase.

Neel 45

And now for something completely different: a thoroughly modern production trimaran for extended voyaging and living aboard. Conceived by veteran French multihull builder and racer Eric Bruneel, his tri employs reverse bows to reduce pitching and maximize waterline length. For originality, the 45 earns high marks. The Neel 45 is part of Cruising World‘s 2013 New Boat Showcase.

Passport Vista 585

Built in China to a design by Bill Dixon, the standard layout for the newest Passport is a three-cabin/two-head configuration with a full-sized walk-in engine and machinery room; a four-cabin layout is optional. That said, as with all Passports, the owner, designer, and builder work together to customize a one-of-a-kind yacht. The Passport Vista 585 is a part of Cruising World’s 2013 New Boat Showcase.
