Sure, the folks at Sailing World, our sister publication, know all about fast. But what about fun? Leave it to U.S. Sailing Team AlphaGraphics member and Olympics contender Zach Railey to pair up with Sunsail Sailing Vacations to help you find out.

There’s still time to get in on the November event featuring Railey, who won a silver medal in the Finn class at the 2008 Olympic games in China. In his official capacity as the star of the “Sailing with Railey 2009” flotilla, Railey will assist the flotilla’s lead crew in presiding over activities, from short-course races to beach barbecues and morning briefings. The one-week charter takes a leisurely itinerary through Sir Francis Drake Channel with stops at some of the best-known destinations in the island territory.

Expect perfect sailing conditions by day and perfect party conditions by night, and chances to mingle with the crews participating in the 2009 Sperry Topsider National Offshore One Design Regatta Championship presented by Sailing World. The celebrating continues as Sunsail is also marking 35 years of serving vacation sailors and racers the world over.

Sunsail has also announced a sponsorship agreement with Railey, who plans to qualify for the 2012 Olympics in Great Britain. Sunsail’s sponsorship is expected to raise more than $40,000 in the first year towards Railey’s campaign costs, and the November flotilla will also help fundraising efforts. Companies interested in sponsoring the event should contact Josie Tucci, Sunsail brand manager (josiet@sunsail.com). For more details about the charter, contact Sunsail (888-791-7243, www.sunsail.com).
