New Simrad Multifunction Instrument Display and Autopilot Controller

The IS40 display is seemingly made for space- and power-conscious cruisers.

Simrad IS40

The IS40 multifunction instrument display ($599) and the OP10 ($299) autopilot control are the latest offerings from Simrad (www.simrad-yachting.com). The Simrad IS40 is a single, fully customizable, do-it-all display that offers quick access to critical wind, depth, speed, and autopilot information. The optional OP10 Autopilot Controller connects to the IS40 and provides full autopilot integration. Easy to install as a standalone instrument or as part of an integrated system, the Simrad IS40 delivers low-power and easy-to-use navigational capabilities.

The 4.1-inch display will fit in just about any tight nav station or at the helm. It’s easy to read in bright sunlight and features bonded-glass construction that claims zero condensation and excellent viewing in all weather and viewing angles. The simple menu easily lets you page through the data you would like displayed (wind direction, depth, speed, course, GPS, autopilot). The IS40 interfaces with Simrad, B&G, and data from other manufacturers. It measures 4.6 inches in width and height and is .65 inches deep. Designed for 12v DC environments, the IS40 sips power at 50-150 miliamps.

The Simrad OP10 optional Pilot Controller seamlessly interfaces with the IS40 instrument to offer boaters convenient remote access of pilot-steering functions. Featuring large clear keys, straightforward operation and backlighting for night use, the pilot control’s interface employs single-mode toggle and includes a prominent “off” key for returning the pilot to standby.
