Bavaria Vision 42 Debut

The latest addition to the Vision line will make its U.S. launch at the upcoming Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show.

Bavaria Vision 42

If you’re going to the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show, April 26 to 28, 2013, be sure to check out the U.S. launch of the new Bavaria Vision 42. The 42 is the latest in the Vision series, which also includes the Vision 46, _CW’s_ Boat of the Year 2013, Best Full-Size Cruiser.

Like the 46, the Vision 42’s saloon has lots of natural light and a flexible layout. The interior is available in a variety of wood finishes and upholstery colors, and you can choose either two or three double cabins and one or two heads with separate showers.

The design is a collaboration of Farr Yacht Design and Design Unlimited, and one of my favorite features of the 46, which is also in the 42, is the large cockpit with dual helms and a table that can be lowered to make a comfortable bed for lounging under way or even sleeping under the stars. The transom folds down into a bathing platform that includes a shower.

Both the Vision 42 and 46 are available with a system called Trim Control, which offers push-button control of the most essential sail trim functions such as tacking, trimming, hauling in and slacking off, so these boats should be easily sailed short handed. A system called Dock Control uses a pair of fold-out thrusters and a joystick control to make docking—especially in tight places—potentially a one-person affair.

The Vision 42 is offered at a base price of $260,000 and a sailaway price of $300,000 to $330,000. For more details, contact Bavaria Yachts USA.
