Hallberg-Rassy 310: A Mini Review

Carol Vernon reviews a boat with successful pedigree for the CW 2010 Sailboat Show

HR 310 mini 368

For 16 years, Hallberg-Rassy has been improving their eminently sensible 31′ cruising boat. This year designer German Frers has created a new hull shape that’s reportedly faster on all points of sail. Shorter overall, but longer on the waterline, the new 310 has less overall beam with a slightly deeper bulb keel for better stability with less weight. All the great features that made her predecessor a success remain or have been improved. Below decks she still sleeps 6, but the head has been moved forward, and the galley and salon are now further aft. Thanks to modern on-deck navigation gear, the chart table has been eliminated for a more spacious salon and additional locker space.
