Hatch maker Goiot Systems has announced a recall on escape hatches used by four French multihull builders, saying there is a danger that the ports could detach from their frames. The affected builders include Lagoon, Fountaine Pajot, Catana (which also builds Bali Catamarans), and Nautitech.

According to a Goiot announcement, the recall affects hatches delivered before September 2018. The company said the builders have already notified their customers of the models that are involved in the recall, but adds anyone owning a used boat, should contact either the builder or a dealer to see if their cat is included.

Escape hatches are located on the inner hulls of many catamarans, often under the stairs that lead down to sleeping cabins. They are installed as a safety measure in case the boat should capsize, trapping sailors below.
