Over the last weekend in April, West Marine opened it’s latest Flagship store, this one in the Boston area, kicking the festivities off with an evening open house featuring Cruising for a Cause, a fundraising event to benefit local boating-related charities. Throughout the weekend, the store hosted an on-site boat show and demonstrations from a range on vendors.

In addition to the usual clothing, electronics and marine gear you’d expect to find at a West Marine, the new store offers a wide selection of fishing gear for both fresh and saltwater anglers in the Fish Shack. The store’s located in Woburn, Massachusetts, at the intersection of routes 95 and 93.

Among the groups participating in Cruising for a Cause were Courageous Sailing, Piers Park Sailing Center, The Fishing Academy, New England Disabled Sports, Sandy Point Sailing, Community Rowing, Newton Yacht Club, Greater Lawrence Community Boating Program, ALLY Foundation’s Flip Flop Regatta, Barehill Rowing, and Boston University Sailing. Through the sale of tickets, a raffle and silent auction, about $3,000 was raised for these groups (click here to see a related photo gallery).

The Woburn store will also serve as the regional hub for Port Supply, the company’s wholesale business.
