Boat U.S. Recognizes Waterfront Heroes

New award honors individuals and organizations who help preserve public water access

Here’s another reason to attend “Working Waterways & Waterfronts-A National Symposium on Water Access,” a conference taking place May 9-11, 2007, in Norfolk, Virginia. At the event, BoatU.S. will announce the winner of its new “Recreational Boating Access Award.”

The award honors the individual, group, government body, business, or nonprofit organization that has succeeded in preserving or improving public waterway access. Judges will look at a variety of criteria, and the deadline for entries is February 1, 2007.

As waterfront land values skyrocket, recreational boaters are losing more and more access to the water. As part of its effort to combat the problem, Boat U.S. is recognizing those who are helping to turn the tide against dwindling water access.
