Black Boaters Summit Holds 15th Flotilla
Longtime event organizer Paul Mixon offers crewed and bareboat catamarans and monohulls for the Last Black Boaters Summit from July 19 to 29, 2012, in the British Virgin Islands.

The trip attracts singles, non-sailors, and the young and elderly, offering an itinerary through the territory’s islands and a variety of activities in the water and on land. For details, log on to the Summit website.

Charter Company Takes Soldiers Sailing
Horizon Yacht Charters in the British Virgin Islands took a group of British soldiers sailing in December 2011. The soldiers (pictured at left), from the Household Cavalry Regiment, the oldest and most senior regiment in the British Army, were seriously wounded in action in Afghanistan and are rehabilitating from their injuries.

The groups Help for Heroes and the Household Cavalry Operational Casualties Fund helped make the trip possible. The guest crew, some of whom had never sailed before, were accompanied by a regiment medical officer. To learn more, contact Horizon.

Kids Go Free with Cat Crew
The 58-foot South African cat Nexus will take up to four children under the age of 10 sailing for free in the British Virgin Islands in the winter of 2012. The boat can carry up to seven guests (eight in a family) in four cabins. Captain Sheldon Lindsay and chef Vanessa Bush are crew. SUP Racing Is Part of HIHO Lineup
The Highland Spring HIHO 2012 runs July 1 to 8, 2012. The event in the British Virgin Islands includes races for standup paddleboarders and windsurfers and sailing aboard a fleet of captained Moorings catamarans. Activities suitable for the entire family include a limbo contest, a 1970s dance-music party, a pirate party, lunches, and dinners.
