The 12-Meter Courageous To Benefit Newport Art Museum

As part of a summerlong fundraising promotion to benefit the Newport Art Museum in Newport, Rhode Island, a fleet of scale models of the famous 12-meter yacht “Courageous” is being transformed into a collection of public works of art by regional artists. The boats will be on display throughout the region this summer and will be auctioned to the highest bidders on Friday, September 12th at the New York Yacht Club in Newport. Proceeds will benfit the Newport Art Museum capital campaign.

Since the artists have not yet finished decorating the boats, we don’t have colorful images to send to you yet. However, we will contact you again soon with more photos. Please consider visiting the Museum on June 7 or 8 when the fleet will be briefly moored on our grounds before shipping out to locations around the region. You may also arrange a personal visit or interview with an artist, our development director Jennifer MacKechnie or with me by contacting me at the Newport Art Museum.
