Two of the three people arrested in connection with the theft of a luxury sailboat from Sausalito were freed Wednesday after prosecutors concluded they hadn’t known the vessel was stolen and thought they were going on a late-night party cruise.
Two men and a woman packed pizza and beer aboard a luxury sailboat in a Sausalito marina, stole it in the middle of the night and made it as far as Pacifica before the vessel ran aground 20 yards off a beach Monday.
The Coast Guard on Tuesday called off the search for a boat that reportedly sank far off the Central California coast with two adults and two children on board, saying the family’s distress calls could have been a hoax.
Repairs have been completed on the AC72, which was damaged in a dramatic capsize last October.
