Amazing Voyage

Solo-Sailor Matt Rutherford makes it to the Pacific.

Matt Rutherford

Matt Rutherford has a big goal: to be the first person to circumnavigate the Americas, alone and non stop. And he’s doing it in a 40-year-old 27-foot Albin Vega.

After setting out from Annapolis, Maryland, on June 13, 2011, he headed toward the Arctic and the Northwest Passage, and now, not even four months later, he’s completed that portion of the journey and—despite bad weather and gear failures—is on his way south through the Pacific.

Through this audacious adventure, Rutherford also hopes to raise money for Chesapeake Regional Accessible Boating (CRAB). You can learn more about the trip and follow along at SolotheAmericas.com.
