New Charter Destinations and Companies

Companies new to the U.S. vacation sailing market were on the scene at the fall U.S. Sailboat Show in Annapolis, Maryland. Peddling their wares were Navtours, Med Caribbean Charter and Sailing CBI.

Navtours, based in Quebec, Canada, offers bareboat and crewed charters aboard a mixed fleet of Beneteau and Jeanneau monohulls and Lagoon and Leopard multihulls in the Exuma island chain in the Bahamas; one-way and round-trip charters are available. The company also offers summer charters in Lake Champlain from Plattsburgh, New York.

The owners of Med Caribbean Charter, in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, are Guillermo Pons Oliver and Maria Cisneros. These sailors and longtime business partners also own a Spanish charter operation, Alquila Vela Charter, with bases on Spain’s east coast at Denia and in the Balearic Islands. Fleet offerings at the new BVI base include Dufour monohulls and Lagoon multihulls; in Spain, choose from among a fleet of more than 30 boats, a mix of monohulls and multihulls by Dufour, Bavaria, Jeanneau, and Lagoon.

Explore Bras d’Or Lake, the inland sea of Cape Breton Island, situated in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada, with Sailing CBI aboard an Alpha 42 catamaran from Aeroyacht. Company president Paul Jamieson is expanding the fleet for the 2015 season, which runs from June 1 to Oct. 15.
